Ada Okwara, MD, is a trusted provider at First Care Medical Clinic. She serves patients in four offices: Monroe and two locations in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is both a physician and an administrator who joined the clinic in 2011. Dr. Okwara firmly believes in forming lasting relationships with each of her patients in order to provide them with personalized care. She treats patients of all ages throughout the four communities and helps them learn healthy habits to use in their daily lives.
Dr. Okwara earned her medical degree at the Medical University of the Americas in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Following her graduation in 2002, she completed her family medicine residency at the Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. She also holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Dr. Okwara is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is also a certified medical review officer associated with the American Association of Medical Review Officers. She currently holds other professional memberships with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.
When she isn’t at First Care Medical Clinic providing primary care, immunizations, or treatment for chronic conditions, Dr. Okwara dedicates her time to giving back to the community. She developed a church-based diabetes prevention program for African Americans in Macon, Georgia, completed diabetes research for her current North Carolina community, and has completed research regarding cervical cancer in African American women.
