Benedict Okwara, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist and medical director at First Care Medical Clinic with offices in Monroe, Albemarle, Gastonia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, and Rock Hill, South Carolina. For over 30 years, Dr. Okwara has served as a pillar of his practice and ensures quality care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr. Okwara earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in True Blue, Grenada. Shortly after graduating in 1984, he moved stateside to complete an internship and internal medicine residency at Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn in New York City.
Although he is affiliated with several hospitals and health care systems across the region, Dr. Okwara dedicates most of his time at each of the six First Care Medical Clinic locations. He treats a vast range of conditions, including chronic pain, hypertension, and diabetes. He oversees the administration of care throughout the clinic and acts as the team’s trusted leader.
Dr. Okwara is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and speaks both English and Spanish. He strives to continue learning the latest information in his field and to bring innovative ideas to the First Care Medical Clinic for his team to use.
